Clover was a fairly large opossum and likely quite old. However, possums do not live much longer than 2 years in the wild, so that isn't saying much. She was very beautiful though and it is still unfortunate that she died.

A usual setback of collecting bones from roadkill is the state of the skull. Often what kills the animal is blunt trauma to the skull, and during the decomposition process, the cartilage breaks down even further. Clover's skull is in too many pieces to reconstruct, but I may try anyway.

The remains of a possum obscured by wet fur A close up of the teeth in the crushed skull of the possum.

Her bones are currently waiting to be cleaned. I really need to get to that.
