Michel

Michel died on the 24th of August, 2021. He was lying on the sidewalk between my house and the house of the neighbors who were putting out rat poison. I'd never seen a rat anywhere near either of our houses. Michel was perfect, so I wrapped him up and buried him, and only a month later, cleaned him on the 24th of September. This was the first critter I successfully processed from fresh death to clean bones. There had been many attempted critters before, but he was the first I felt truly successful on.

Michel was not degreased, only cleaned in isopropyl alcohol and whitened in hydrogen peroxide. I have since used a few of his bones for jewelry and find that they get very greasy with human contact. I wasn't sure if that was because of human oils, or his own fats coming through, but I degreased a few of his bones for jewelry to keep them lasting longer.

These are some of the earrings I have made from Michel. I also used his humeruses and vertebrae to make earrings that currently belong to my friend.
